Budget Political Reactions Live: 'Target of budget was to benefit 25 people'
Addressing a public rally in Sadar Bazar, Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi says, "The budget was presented today, the target of the budget was to benefit 25 people. They will give you a little, they will waive a little tax but if you see the target of the budget, is to provide India's money to 20-25 billionaires. In India, 50% are backward class, 15% are Dalits, 8% are tribals, 15% are minorities and suppose, 5% are from poor, general-class people. Look at the owners of private hospitals, colleges and universities, big companies, take out the list of big judges and show me who are from the backward class, who are Dalits, who are tribals, minorities, how many are from the poor general class, they are the elected people, they are their friends..."

I thank the Finance Minister and the Prime Minister for giving such a big boost to the electronics and IT sector."
Budget Political Reactions Live: 'Serious crisis of lack of investment'
"If you take the economy forward, there are some broader challenges that need to be addressed. She (Finance Minister) said she is going to come to up with some tax proposals later beyond this as well... But if you look at objectively what's happening in our economy, there is a serious crisis of lack of investment, compounding a serious problem of unemployment and underemployment in our country. GDP growth has dropped... they are projecting it at 6.4 per cent, which is well below what they talked about last year, but in any case, if you want to get to the Viksit Bharat, which the PM talks about by 2047, you need 8% (growth)..." says Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.

Budget Political Reactions Live: Shashi Tharoor on Union Budget
On Union Budget 2025, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor says, "I think frankly the applause you heard from the BJP benches was for the middle-class tax cut. We look at the details and that may be a good thing. So if you have a salary you may be paying less tax. But the important question is what happens if we don't have a salary? Where is the income going to come from? For you to benefit from income tax relief, you actually need jobs. Unemployment was not mentioned by the Finance Minister... Ironic that the party that wants one nation, one election is actually using each election each state each year to give them more freebies. They may as well have multiple elections so they can get more applause from their allies."

On Union Budget 2025, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal posted on X, "A large part of the country's treasury is spent on waiving off the loans of a few rich billionaires. I had demanded that it be announced in the budget that from now on, the loans of any billionaire will not be waived off. With the money saved from this,

"With increased spending power, demand will rise, benefiting small and medium enterprises and generating employment. The economic impact will be vast," he noted.

Budget Political Reactions Live: 'FM tried to cheat the middle class today,' says TMC MP
On Union Budget 2025, TMC MP Saket Gokhale said that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has "tried to CHEAT the middle class today".
"FM announced in Budget Speech that “no tax for income below 12 lacs”. But there’s a catch," he posted on X.
"If your income is ANYTHING above 12.80 lacs, ALL of it WILL be taxed as under:
0-4 lacs - NIL
4-8 lacs - 5%
8-12 lacs - 10%
12-16 lacs - 15% etc.
The “exempt income” limit has NOT been made 12 lacs. That still remains at 4 lacs," he explained.
"Great for those who earn 12.80 lac or less per annum. If you earn a rupee above that, you WILL have to pay tax on ALL of it according to the above slabs. Therefore, even a small pay hike for anyone earning 12 lac right now will basically be a brutal punishment," Gokhale said.
