Legrand Data Center Solutions (LDCS) claims to be sharpening its focus on India as the country’s data Center industry expands rapidly, driven by AI, cloud computing and digital transformation. The company plans to strengthen its local manufacturing, R&D and engineering capabilities while expanding its presence beyond major metro cities to capture the next phase of data Center growth.

Krishna Raj, National Head – Sales, Legrand Data Center Solutions India, said India has become a strategic market for the company, with local manufacturing and engineering emerging as key competitive advantages.

Legrand, a French multinational with operations in over 90 countries, has been present in India for more than 30 years. The company operates seven manufacturing facilities, three R&D Centers and a network of over 91 offices across the country.

“The data Center industry has become significantly more specialised over the last decade. Customers today no longer buy isolated products. They are looking for infrastructure that works as one integrated system, from incoming power through to the rack,” Krishna Raj said.

He added that Legrand Data Center Solutions brings together specialist brands, including Raritan, Starline, Numeric, Netrack, Adlec and USystems, to provide end-to-end infrastructure covering power systems, cooling, racks, structured cabling and intelligent power management.

Krishna Raj said the company’s manufacturing base in India helps reduce lead times while enabling products to be designed and engineered for local requirements. “In a market where projects are being delivered on increasingly compressed timelines, local engineering and manufacturing are becoming strategic advantages rather than operational conveniences,” he noted.

The executive also highlighted the impact of AI on data Center infrastructure. According to him, rack densities have increased from around 8-12 kW a few years ago to 80-100 kW and beyond in AI deployments, creating demand for advanced cooling and power systems. He said Legrand has developed high-density cooling technologies and scalable UPS and power distribution solutions to address these requirements.

Sustainability is another major focus area for the company. Krishna Raj said Legrand Group is targeting net-zero emissions by 2050 and continues to invest around 5% of its annual turnover in research and development to improve energy efficiency and product performance.

Looking ahead, Legrand Data Center Solutions plans to deepen its engagement with hyperscale, cloud and colocation operators while expanding into tier-2 and tier-3 markets. “Our ambition over the next two years is to become the partner of choice for India’s data Center operators as they build out capacity to meet AI, cloud, and digital demand,” Krishna Raj said.
