Unveiling a new vision for the company, TVS Motors on Thursday announced plans to take Bajaj head-on in the Indian automobile market as the company not only launched a new bike in the 125-cc category to match Bajaj?s proposed ?blockbuster? bike but also made a three-wheeler debut with which it expects to corner a sizeable market.

?This marks the beginning of a very new TVS, sporting a new range of products on new technology,? TVS Motors CMD Venu Srinivisan said here after unveiling seven new products, including the new 125-cc bike ?Flame? that the company hopes will sell 35,000 units monthly by April 2008.

Though refusing to divulge prices for the products that would be rolled out over the next few months, the company said the products commanded higher efficiency, including mileage, ?than existing products? in the market. Though Srinivasan parried direct questions on a frontal attack on Bajaj, the company?s strategy clearly points that TVS wants to stump its Pune-based rival with new range of products and technologies. Bajaj, that is banking heavily on the success of its yet-to-be-launched 125-cc bike that comes out in September, would not be too happy with TVS?entry into the segment with what the company calls its ?big daddy? product.
