Tata Power Company Ltd has entered into an agreement with Korea East West Power Company Ltd (EWP), one of the largest generation utilities of Korea, to identify and execute operations & maintenance (O&M) opportunities relating to third party generation assets in Asia, Middle East and Africa. The companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect.
Under the MoU, Tata Power and EWP have initiated a technical cooperation in the field of operation and maintenance of the generation assets. The technical cooperation will cover exchange of information, best practices and exchange of personnel relating to the O&M of generation assets, said a Tata Power statement.
EWP is one of the largest generation utilities of Korea operating 13% of the Korea?s power generating facilities. EWP has an installed capacity of 9,500 MW and operates coal fired (4900 MW), oil fired (1800 MW), gas based (2100 MW), pumped storage (700 MW) and mini hydro, tidal and solar units (6.5 MW).
It has an expertise in the operations of units based on ultra super critical and CFBC technology and developed the plant operation and maintenance management system for real time monitoring, controlling and cost optimisation.
Prasad Menon, managing director, Tata Power said, ?The MoU will enable exchange of technical cooperation with Korea East West Power Company Ltd.
