Haryana government is providing quality wheat and rice at highly subsidised rates to the families living below poverty line (BPL) and Antyodaya (AAY) families through a network of 9,566 fair price shops.

While giving this information on Tuesday, managing director, Haryana state federation of consumers cooperatives wholesale stores (CONFED), Anil Kumar said that under this scheme, wheat was made available at a rate of Rs 4.84 per kg, rice at Rs 6.40 per kg for BPL beneficiaries and wheat at Rs 2.10 per kg to AAY beneficiaries. He said that each family under BPL was entitled to 25 kg of wheat and 10 kg of rice, while AAY beneficiaries are entitled to 35 kg of wheat per month. Similarly, sugar was provided at a rate of Rs 13.50 per kg, to both BPL and AAY beneficiaries.

Anil Kumar also said that quality wheat and rice had been supplied to all fair price shops for the month of December 2007 and the beneficiaries under BPL and AAY could approach their respective fair price shops for the purchase of the same.

Kumar added that any complaint has to indicate the name, address and telephone or mobile number of the fair price shop, against whom the complaint was being made, along with details of the allegations. The complaint, which would not have complete details and facts, would be treated as pseudonymous, and would be dealt as per instructions of state government.
