Defying definitions and the confines of conventional expression stands the universe of ‘Spoken word’. Here personal experiences, thoughts and opinions flow freely, with the voice of the artist pushing the tide. ‘Free Voices’ has organised a spoken word poetry event on August 21, Saturday, at Mocha, Law College road. Six poets will perform at the event – Arnav Dasgupta, Hartman de Souza, Animesh Samuel, Ajinkya Chikte, Varun Mukerji, Danesh Munshi, and Free Voices? creator Apphia K. Free Voices had earlier organised a Wordshop for fledgling spoken word artists conducted by famous Spoken Word artist and teacher, Sarah Kay. The event starts at 8:00pm.

Graceful moves
City dance connoisseurs will be treated to a Mohini Attam dance performance on August 26 at the Namdeo Sabhagriha, Pune University. The programme has been organised by danseuse Yogini Gandhi?s institute Kalanidhi and the Lalit Kala Kendra (Centre for Performing Arts) Pune University. Mandakini Trivedi, who is a reputed Mumbai-based performer, choreographer, writer and teacher, will perform the Mohini Attam and will be accompanied by young soloist Neeti Desai. Trivedi initially trained with Kanak Rele and then went on to receive guidance from legendary gurus Kalyanikuttiamma, Satyabhama and, more recently, Kalamandalam Leelamma. The event is open to all and will be held from 4-6 pm.

A popular innings
The Balgandharva Rang Mandir will come alive with shouts of ?Howzzzzat!? as a cricketainment programme – Bara Gaon Che Pani ? is being held here today. Commentator Harsha Bhogale, sports journalist Sunandan Lele and stand-up comedian Vikram Sathaye will put together this laugh riot and trace the journey of cricket with interesting insights and anecdotes on the game and the players. Sathaye will also provide an insight into how one can apply cricketing knowledge in management. Plus, the trio will talk about legends like Sachin Tendulkar and share rare photographs and clippings. The two-hour audio-visual programme will begin at 6 pm.
