Terming the deportation of Nawaz Sharif as a criminal act, his brother Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday said the deposed former premier was “unlawfully abducted or smuggled” out of Pakistan.
Shahbaz, who is serving exile in London said he was trying to reach out to his brother, so far he had not been able to make any contact with him.
“People are totally disappointed, angry and the way Nawaz was mishandled at Islamabad, the Musharraf and his goons have unlawfully abducted or smuggled him out of Pakistan, is a very serious crime,” Shahbaz said.
“It is contempt of court, so if this how court decisions are treated then god help Pakistan,” he was quoted as saying.
Earlier, Shahbaz was also scheduled to return to Pakistan, but he stayed back on his brother’s insistence.
Sharif had on Monday told the media that he did not let Shahbaz come along as he was unsure of the treatment that would be meted out him, in his absence at least there would be some one to look after the party.
