Anil Ambani-led Reliance Capital Ltd (RCL) posted a 86.36% jump in net profit at Rs 135.24 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 72.57 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

As a result, it?s earning per share (EPS) jumped to Rs 5.68 against Rs 2.95 in the corresponding period previous year, an increase of 93%.

The total income of the firm also surged by three-fold at Rs 375.46 crore for the quarter under review as against Rs 121.24 crore during the same period in 2006, the company said in a communique to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

RCL with a networth of Rs 5,797 crore ($1.5 billion), is ranked among the top three Indian private sector financial services groups. It?s stock ended lower on BSE at Rs 1,840.90, down 6.54% on Wednesday.

GMR?s net at Rs 64.07 cr

GMR Infrastructure?s net (after minority interest) for third quarter ended December 31, 2007 is up 20.31% to Rs 64.07 crore from Rs 53.26 crore in the corresponding period. Its net revenues rose to Rs 534.99 crore from Rs 355.43 crore, a rise of 50.51%.

GMR Infrastructure?s net (after minority interest) for nine months of fiscal 2007-08 has also shown a rise of 4.90% to Rs 160.05 crore from Rs 152.58 crore and its net revenues increased to Rs 1,394.07 crore from Rs 1,077.18 crore, a rise of 29.42%.

GMR Infrastructure release said its net (before minority interest) for Q3 was up 16.41% to Rs 80.03 crore from Rs 68.75 crore and it?s net (before minority interest) for nine months increased to Rs 221.36 crore from Rs 202.25 crore, up by 9.45%.

GM Rao, chairman said, ?I am delighted that we have been able to achieve satisfactory growth in revenues and profits for the quarter and the nine months period ended December 31.?

GMR Infrastructure has four principal business verticals including airports, energy, highways and urban infrastructure. The company is involved in the modernisation and restructuring of Delhi International Airport and development of a greenfield international airport at Hyderabad.

Recently, the company has won the bid for the modernisation of Sabiha Gokcen International Airport at Istanbul, Turkey.

The company has nine power projects – three in operation and six under development. Besides, it is involved six road projects of which two are in operation and four are under construction.

Cipla net up

Cipla Ltd posted a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 210.65 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 184.38 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006. Total income has increased from Rs 913.33 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006 to Rs 1128.69 crore.

Marico net jumps 62%

FMCG major Marico Ltd on Thursday reported a 62% increase in its net profit for the quarter ending December 31, 2007 at Rs 46 crore as against Rs 28 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

The company?s turnover went up by 24 % in the third quarter at Rs 506 crore over the corresponding quarter in the previous year.

Announcing the results, Saugata Gupta, CEO, Consumer Products Business, Marico said, ?The consistent performance of our established brands has helped Marico launch new products to build future growth engines.? Marico?s international consumer products business grow by 49% during the quarter over Q3FY07, informed to Vijay Subramaniam, CEO- International Business. ?Marico expects to capitalize upon the rapidly growing ethnic hair care market in South Africa. We also anticipate the need to invest in the brands in the near term,? he added.

GTL Q3 net up

GTL Ltd has posted a consolidated net profit after extraordinary items of Rs 40.67 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 20.8 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006. Total income has increased from Rs 292.7 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006 to Rs 454.61 crore.

Tulip IT net up 97%

Tulip IT Services Ltd, on Thursday announced that the company has reported a growth of 97% in its net profit to Rs 54.09 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 against Rs 27.48 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Revenues for the period stood at Rs 341.5 crore, up 54% against Rs 222.19 crore last year. The company posted a basic EPS of Rs 18.65, it informed.

3i Infotech net up 78%

3i Infotech on Thursday announced that the company posted a growth of 77.6% in its net profit to Rs 49.6 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 against the corresponding quarter last year. Revenues for the period stood at Rs 323.4 crore, a growth of 82% over the previous year. Moreover, Earnings per share (EPS) increased to Rs 3.64 from Rs 2.42 last year, the company informed.

Apollo Hospitals net at Rs 26 crore

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 26.3 crore for the quarter ended on December 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 17.9 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006.

Total income had increased from Rs 234.1 crore for the quarter ended on December 31, 2006 to Rs 297.1 crore for the quarter ended on December 31, 2007.

Take Solutions net up 14%

Take Solutions Ltd on Thursday announced that the company posted a growth of 14% in its net profit to Rs 14.6 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 along with revenues of Rs 79.5 crore. Revenues for the nine months ended December 2007 stood at Rs 207.9 crore and net profit stood at Rs 36.0 crore, the company informed.

Engineers India net up 26% at Rs 50 cr

Engineers India Ltd on Thursday posted a 26% increase in net profit at Rs 50.25 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 as against Rs 39.88 crore in the corresponding period last year.

The total income of the firm increased to Rs 206.27 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 153.90 crore during the same quarter last year, up 34.03%, the company said in a communique to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Shares of the firm closed at Rs 925, up 0.68% on the BSE.

Aegis Logistics net up 74%

Aegis Logistics on Thursday announced that the company posted a growth of 74% in its net profit to Rs 10.14 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 against Rs 5.84 crore for the corresponding quarter last year.

Net sales for the period stood at Rs 92.13 crore, as against Rs 65.69 crore over the previous year.

Wyeth Ltd Q3 net dips

Wyeth Ltd posted a net profit of Rs 17.54 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 23.16 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006.

Total income increased from Rs 74.34 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006 to Rs 87.91 crore.

EID Parry India posts Rs 23 cr loss

EID Parry India Ltd on Thursday reported a net loss of Rs 23.33 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 as against a net profit of Rs 3.82 crore it clocked during the same period previous year. Turnover of the company was at Rs 204.95 crore (Rs 164.17 crore) during the period, according to a company statement.

FACT net down at Rs 55 cr

Fertilizers & Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT) on Thursday posted a net loss of Rs 54.46 crore for the quarter ended December 31, compared to net loss of Rs 26.93 crore for the same quarter last year.

Total income of the company decreased to Rs 148.44 crore for the quarter ended December 31, from Rs 425.9 crore for the corresponding quarter a year-ago, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Shares of the company were trading at Rs 36.05, down 4.88% on BSE in the afternoon trade.

HDIL net profit at Rs 270 cr

Housing Development and Infrastructure Ltd on Thursday reported net profit of Rs 270 crore billion rupees for the quarter to December on net sales of Rs 497 crore.
