A high-level delegation from the Punjab government is in South to showcase the IT achievements of the state.

The delegation is participating in the three-day ICT flagship event ?BangaloreIT.biz?, being held at the Palace Grounds.

Manoranjan Kalia, the minister for industries and commerce, Punjab was the guest of honour at the inaugural session, sharing dais with Karnataka chief minister, Yeddyurappa and Narendra Modi, chief minister of Gujarat.

In his address, Kalia paid tributes to the achievements of Karnataka in the IT sector, stating that it has become a role model to be emulated by other states, and assured that Punjab which successfully led the green revolution in the country is all geared to drive growth of IT sector too.

Kalia, who is leading the delegation comprising principal secretary, industries & commerce S S Channy; Punjab Infotech chairman H S Grewal and managing director, Punjab Infotech Rakesh Verma, said that the Punjab has adopted a holisitic strategy for creating a positive eco system encompassing infrastructure, human resources development, and proactive policy measures, including the Industrial Facilitation Act.

Kalia invited the industry representatives to visit the two project cities being developed for IT/ITeS projects at Kapurthala and Ropar.

The high-level delegation from the Punjab government visited Hyderabad for a study and promotional tour of its IT/ITeS industry, following the approval last month of the strategy and action plan for the industry prepared by Ernst and Young.

The Punjab government hosted a breakfast meeting at the Novotel Hotel which was attended by top decision makers of several IT /ITeS majors of Hyderabad including ADP, Nvidia, Satyam BPO, TCS, DE Shaw, Broadridge, Goldstone and Amazon.

The delegation took the opportunity to showcase and promote IT/ITeS initiatives in Punjab and unveiled its flagship projects in the Kapurthala-Jalandhar and Ropar-Mohali corridors.
