Priya Entertainment Pvt Ltd, one of the leading entertainment companies in the east, is in talks with the Darjeeling municipality and some private promoting companies in Durgapur , Jamshedpur and Barasat to come up with multiplexes with facilities like restaurants, conference rooms and coffee shops along with movie halls, by this year.

“We have already come up with such multiplexes in Burdwan, South Dinajpur and Shantiniketan,” Arijit Dutta, managing director of Priya Entertainment told FE. The charge for the conference room would vary from Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 as per the location, he said. “And the tickets will also be quite cheap for these air-conditioned, cushion-backed seats in the movie halls. Our aim is to give quality entertainment to the rural and semi urban people at an affordable cost,” Datta said.

The company is growing by 30-40% year-on-year and global meltdown has not affected its growth. The company now distributes Columbia Tristar’s, Paramount ‘s and UTV’s films in the eastern region which includes Orissa, Bihar , Assam and Nepal .

“At present we are changing our focus to quality regional films and come out of the distribution of hindi films, so I might drop the tieup with UTV,” Datta told FE.
