The heady aroma of high-end foreign perfumes will soon take over the natural fragrance of itr in Uttar Pradesh as Alcome Perfumes and Cosmetics PLC, the Indian subsidiary of Alcome Perfumes and Cosmetics LLC, USA, is set to storm the price-conscious market with its hot-selling item-Europa? strategically priced at Rs 99.

The company, which already has perfume bottling units at Noida and Bhiwadi in Rajasthan, with a bottling capacity of one lakh bottles of 37 types of perfume, is now looking towards augmenting its production capacity by setting up another plant in Noida. Once the unit starts functioning by June, the total production capacity would go up to 4 lakh bottles a day.

Speaking to FE, vice-president Alcome Perfumes, Sanjeev Nayyar said, “UP is known for its rich cultural heritage and sophisticated taste. We have decided to explore the market using direct marketing technique.”

The company, which is already exporting its products to foreign markets, plans to export almost 90% of its total production capacity. “Our products not only have a global touch to them but also come with attractive price tags that are sure to be an instant hit with all segments of consumers. Our best perfumes are priced between Rs 99 and Rs 495, against the market rates varying between Rs 500 to Rs 2,500,” Nayyar said.

Also, the company plans to hit the market with its range of body sprays and after-shaves, all very attractively priced, by March.
