Nepal’s inflation rate has reached 12 per cent with the sharp rise in commodity prices, highest in the past two months.

The country’s economy has registered a growth of mere 3.9 per cent, half of the target in 2008, according to the Economic Survey 2009 published by the government.

The agriculture sector grew by 2.1 per cent last year while the non-agriculture sector grew by 4.8 per cent.

However, the GDP per capita income reached USD 473 in 2008 despite the poor performance of other sectors of the economy which was possible due to the increasing remittance.

The market price experienced highest rise in the past two decades.
