State-run MMTC invited bids for import of 47,000 tonnes of pulses to be delivered between October and November.
Bids will close on September 14 and the decision on the tender will taken by September 22, the company said on its website.
Bidders should source 35,000 tonnes of white matar (yellow peas), 8,000 tonnes of tur (pigeon peas) and 2,000 tonnes each urad (black mapte) and masoor (red lentils), it said.
They should import the pulses, which are grown in the current year, from Canada, Australia, Myanmar and Africa, it added.
According to tender notice, a bidder has to quote for the entire quantity of yellow peas, while for other pulses, minimum quantity would be 2,000 tonnes.
MMTC said that the shipment of pulses should be delivered at Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Kakinada and Vizag ports between October and November.
India is the world’s largest importer of pulses. It buys pulses from the global market as it is short of about three million tonnes to meet 17-18 million tonnes demand.
