The $272-million IT firm MindTree plans to launch a newly-developed video surveillance solution that could add $2 million to its top line this fiscal.
Krishnakumar Natarajan, CEO and MD, MindTree told FE that the company has started bidding for some projects. It is seeing traction in both government and private sectors.
?In India, the majority of the video surveillance projects are with the government and public sector undertakings though we are pursuing a few opportunities in the corporate sector as well,? he said.
In the domestic market, the firm has piloted a surveillance solution with the Bangalore Traffic Police. The solution not only captures vehicles that jump signals, but can also accurately decipher the number plate of the vehicle. The system is linked to a back-end data base that can then send out a challan automatically.
?The platform has just been launched. We have demonstrated it at the International Security Conference in Birmingham, UK, in May. In the five weeks the solution has been in the market, we have got enough of a funnel and interest from both SIs and through direct opportunities,? Natarajan added.
S Janakiraman, president and group CEO of the firm’s Product Engineering Services said the solution could add between $1 million and $2 million in revenues this year. ?In terms of sales, we can do three to four times that number this year but the revenue would be realised only in the next fiscal year,? he said.
