The CII-Young Indians-Aries Agro Farmers Network has received a record 1,002 registrations in the past one month from ?young and progressive? farmers spread over five states in the country .
This phenomenal response was mainly from farmers aged 25 to 40 years (the target group of this network and its activities) from across various districts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhatisgarh, who grow a wide range of over 30 types of crops.
The 1,000-plus enrolments received for the farmers network were formally handed over by Aries Agro Limited and the Yi Youth Affairs Team to KV Kamath, vice-president of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), to mark the formal commencement of the network?s knowledge dissemination activities.
Kamath appreciated the CII-Yi-Aries Agro Farmers network and its ambitious plans of involving 10,000 young farmers in such widespread, meaningful activities by March 2008.
