Speakers at Ashwamedha, the annual national seminar organised by Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB), stressed the need for innovation to get good bottom lines.
PepsiCo vice president (supply chain) Venkata Reddy, Deloitte India R&D head Vikram Mahidhar, Cognizant F&A head Sreekumar Krishnan, Pilkington Glass India managing director Pinaki Banerjee, and XIMB dean WS William spoke on ‘Operational Innovation : A Competitive Strategy,’ here Saturday.
Krishnan said, “While operating creates today’s revenues, innovation creates tomorrow’s.” Mahidhar, however, focused on operational hedging, a strategy to manage risk.
Reddy said his company is trying to innovate to overcome complex challenges like a seasonal business, rapidly transforming consumer tastes, increasing urbanisation and so on.
Banerjee, an alumnus of XIMB, said innovation is required for cash generation, maintenance of market position, and retention of staff.
