Indian SME sector is a role model for rest of the developing countries. Foreign business delegations show keen interest in Training-cum-Incubation centre (NSIC-TIC) for small enterprise establishment, said HP Kumar, CMD, National Small Industries Corporation, NSIC, in his keynote address during the seminar on ?NSIC Initiatives for MSMEs? organised jointly by PHD Chamber and NSIC at PHD House, here on Friday.
NSIC-TIC creates self-employment opportunities by imparting training in entrepreneurship building to the unemployed people who want to set up small business enterprises in any of the manufacturing or services sectors or seek employment opportunities. There are 48 incubation centres all over India which NSIC-TIC plans increase to 200 by the end of this year.
Responding to an observation regarding single point registration with NSIC, of AL Agarwal, vice chairman, Haryana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kumar said single point registration has been only an administrative arrangement by the Centre. He hoped this registration will become a law in another three to six months.
Kumar added NSIC has been given responsibility for raw material distribution under its Raw Material Assistance Scheme. This scheme aims at helping small scale industries/enterprises by way of financing the purchase of raw material, both indigenous and imported. This will give an opportunity to SSI to focus better on manufacturing quality products. NSIC distributed raw material to the tune of Rs 4,300 crore last year and it looks forward to have a turnover of Rs 6,000 crore this year.
