The ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, which has recently started its operations in the country, will initially focus on addressing various needs of low-cost households in the country. Though still in the process of registration, the Foundation has already started its operations. It plans to go to remote areas in states like Bihar and Orissa, where these problems are galore.

Speaking to FE in Mumbai on Friday, the Foundation?s chairman, Nachiket Mor, said, ?My worry is why most of the farmers in the country have not yet been able to go to commodity exchanges to trade their products. In fact, we want to see how we can get the market much more responsive to the needs of low-income households, said Mor.

The Foundation is likely to take up similar issues and want to interact with each and every agency involved, to ensure that such requirements of low-cost households were addressed well, said Mor.

Talking about the Grameen Capital, which is being launched next Monday, Nachiket said, ?His foundation will be a mentor to the new body.?

He clarified that his foundation had nothing to do with the functioning of the Grameen Capital.
