The job: I love the challenge of innovations within communications in the B2B space. Siemens give me complete freedom for implementing new ideas/ concepts across all verticals within my scope and we have, time and again, delivered incredible value. There’s nothing much that I dislike except maybe the big budget issue
The weekdays: My day starts at 7:30 am and the first thing I actually do is go through my BlackBerry to get a hold of the action of the previous night. Subsequently, I find myself in office by 10am and work completely takes over. Most times, I have my calendar pretty packed and scheduled. But invariably, there are always unplanned activities that crop up every hour. Even nicotine breaks are judiciously used to discuss ideas, mentoring or catching up with colleagues from other departments. As a department head, administration also takes up 20-30% of my time. While that remains my improvement areas, it gives the most stress as it deals with numbers which is not my strongest capability. I expect the entire team to be responsible. I believe in complete freedom and would hate to be a helicopter manager. But time and again, I am disappointed when deadlines are not met or I see colleagues shirking their responsibilities.
The weekend: Weekends are normally spent finishing household chores, movies, an occasional crazy night out with my wife and friends or lunches with friends.
The toys: My new Samsung Galaxy Note II and my IPAD-3 are my favourite. Being an avid gamer, I find myself competing with my three-and-a half-year-old son who seems to be getting better and better at the games I play. I hate it when he has to show me on how to get across levels I cannot complete
The logos: Cotton World remains a perennial favourite for both my formal as well as casual wear. I go to the store at least once in two weeks and never walk out empty-handed. True Religion is now a current favourite in jeans. I prefer Aldo for my formals with Adidas/ Puma being the preferred casual wear brand.
