Microsoft Corporation India and HCL Infosystems have jointly devised a slew of strategic initiatives to cater to the growing demands of the IT industry.
Under the tie-up, HCL will train 50,000 students in Microsoft technology over a period of three years in 100 training centres located across the country.
Kevin Turner, chief operating officer, Microsoft Corporation, said, ?India is the fastest growing market for Microsoft. We intend to be aggressive in this market and want people to understand our technology.? These centres would train students on the Microsoft official curriculum, under structured learning methodology, designed and developed by Microsoft. The company has already worked on 64 centres out of which about 90% are franchisees.
The training will focus on technical, professional and architectural skills in infrastructure, system design and unified communications, among others. The goal of the Microsoft -HCL training initiative is to enhance the employability of students and help the Indian IT industry retain its competitive edge. The second initiative is expected to hot up the competitive small laptop market with HCL?s launch of MiLeap series on Microsoft Windows Operating System. Ajai Chowdhry, chairman & CEO, HCL Infosystems, said, ?India has about seven million buyers of computing systems as against China?s 32 million. So, we have a large scope in this area. We want to bring special products for our consumers. The Windows OS used in MiLeap has been especially designed for HCL.? The Leaptop would be available for Rs 16,990, making it the lowest priced Microsoft Windows XP powered laptop in the market.
