The Calcutta High Court on Thursday directed the West Bengal government to file an affidavit by July 8 to show it opposes the Tata Motors petition on the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, 2011.
Justice Soumitra Pal also directed Tata Motors to file a counter-affidavit by July 12. The hearing for the main petition will begin on July 14.
In view of the order passed by the Supreme Court, the main matter is required to be adjudicated preferably in a period of one month,? Justice Pal said. His directive on Thursday is in sync with the Supreme Court’s order of disposing of the matter as early as possible, preferably within a month.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday passed a ?limited interim order?, stalling the handover of land at Singur till the high court gives an order on the main petition.
