Mobile operators offering services on GSM technology added 13.94 million subscribers in March taking the overall GSM user base to 421 million in the country.
According to the subscriber figures released by the GSM industry body, the Cellulars Operators Association of India (COAI), the country?s largest telecom operator Bharti Airtel added 3 million users during the month taking its market share to 30.25% at the end of the month. With this Bharti?s total subscriber base touched 127 million.
Vodafone-Essar, the country?s second largest GSM operator added more than 3.6 million subscribers taking its total subscriber base to 100.8 million with a market share of 23.91%. Idea Cellular?s subscriber base grew by 2.71% with the adition of 1.68 million users during the month, taking its total subscriber base to 63.8 million. Idea had a market share of 15.13%.
The company, however added a lesser number of subscribers than it did in the previous month when it added 2.2 million unsers.
The state-run BSNL added 2.4 million users, a growth of 4.07% over February?s addition with a market share of 15.05%. The company?s total subscriber base stood at 63.48 million in March.
