Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar said there was no danger to the food safety, as of now. ?We have enough food stock, which is sufficient for public distribution system,? Pawar said at a press conference here on Tuesday.

However, he clarified that agriculture reviews are for enhancing the food production to create ?buffer stock?. ?We need additional food stock to face emergencies and natural calamities. We (the government) have decided to encourage the agriculture dominate states to put pressure on the foodgrain production, hence initiated the food security mission,? Pawar said.

Speaking to media after the review meeting held by the Prime Minister, Pawar said Andhra Pradesh has reaffirmed to achieve 4% annual growth in agriculture sector.
