The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has increased its freight loading and passenger carrying capacity during the first quarter of the current financial year. The ECoR earned a total revenue of Rs 1266.86 crore during this period, which was Rs 179.68 crore more than the figure achieved in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

The ECoR loaded 21.81 million tonne of freight during the quarter, up 8.88% compared with the year-ago period. It earned revenues of Rs 1115.66 crore, an increase of 16.04%.

On the passenger front, the ECoR carried 14.49 million passengers during the quarter, up 11.37% compared with the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, and earned Rs 131.48 crore.
