The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) this year is going to hand over around 2,400 houses constructed under various categories. For months, CHB officials have been aggressively pursuing the completion of various ongoing housing schemes under various categories, including general housing scheme, small flats scheme and economically weaker sections. Now their focus would be on allotment of these houses along with the construction work.

CHB officials said CHB will hand over 512 small flats in Sector 38-W and 576 in Ram Darbar, built at an approximate cost of Rs 9 crore and Rs 10 crore, respectively, under the Chandigarh Administration’s prestigious slum rehabilitation project, aiming to make the city slum-free.

In addition to this, CHB has already completed 288 houses in Sector 38 West at a cost of around Rs 9 crore and 400 units in Sector 49 at an approximate cost of Rs 12 crore for economically weaker sections, for which allotments have already been done. These houses will soon be handed over to the beneficiaries.

The housing board officials said that another chunk of 160 houses under the same category would be completed by December this year in Sector 26 (East) at a cost of around Rs 4.5 crore, for which the allotment process will be initiated within two months.
