Cardamom prices fell by Rs 10 to Rs 846.50 per kg in futures trade on Thursday owing to slackness in demand at existing high levels.

Fresh arrivals in the spot market from producing belts also put pressure on cardamom prices at the futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July fell by Rs 10, or 1.16 per cent, to Rs 846.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 389 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in September shed Rs 8.90, or 0.99 per cent, to Rs 885 per kg, with a business turnover of 77 lots.

Cardamom prices for delivery in August moved down by Rs 8.50, or 0.97 per cent, to Rs 866 per kg, with a business volume of 137 lots.

Analysts said fall in demand at existing high levels against fresh arrivals in the physical market, mainly led to the fall in cardamom prices at futures trade.
