Japanese camera maker Canon has updated its budget SX compact superzoom with the launch of the PowerShot SX150 IS. The PowerShot SX150 IS?s compact size makes it convenient to carry around to capture those special moments that can happen anytime! Sporting a stylish design, it comes in two great colours: Black and Red.

With an impressive 12x optical zoom and sharp 14.1 megapixel resolution, the PowerShot SX150 IS allows all members of the family to improve their photography skills, or simply let the camera do the work, delivering high quality point-and-shoot photos. Canon brings its latest ?Intelligent? image stabilisation technology to bear on the SX150, with the camera automatically selecting from seven different modes, based on its understanding of the type of shooting being conducted.

With precision engineering and decades of leadership in optical technologies, Canon has created a bright, wide-angle lens that provides an extraordinary 12x zoom range. The lens starts at 28 mm wide-angle and extends to 336 mm telephoto, giving tremondous coverage. The telephoto end lets you capture subjects from a distance, while the 28 mm wide-angle makes it easy to shoot sweeping landscapes, large groups of people and tall buildings. Moreover, this superlative lens incorporates innovative designs that enable it to fit the compact profile of the PowerShot SX150 IS and perform at high speed with low power consumption.

Hand-held shooting can often lead to camera shake, making photos and videos blurry. Canon?s Optical Image Stabiliser is a sophisticated system that uses lens-shift technology to correct for unwanted camera movement. It makes hand-held photography more practical in more shooting situations, providing excellent image quality in many difficult situations: outdoors at dusk, inside without a flash, and even at the telephoto end of the zoom range without a tripod. For still photos, it enables shooting at slower shutter speeds, accommodating more low-light shooting situations than ever before without having to boost ISO sensitivity. With camera shake and vibration reduced, you get a sharper, steadier image. And because it is an optical system, there is none of the image degradation typical with electronic image stabilisers.

The PowerShotSX150?s new Intelligent IS system is designed to identify the shooting situations and apply the most appropriate form of stabilisation. When you switch on this camera, it takes about 2.7 seconds before you can shoot your first picture, and can only capture a new photo every 1.1 seconds after that. This shutter lag might be frustrating when you shoot fast moving subjects. The decision to use a CCD for this camera could help in recording sharper images, but it does not help in reducing the noise.

The SX150 is able to keep noise under this level at the base ISO of 80, but surpasses the1.5% mark at ISO100 and above, much lower than most compact cameras. Depending on the focal length and desired shutter speed, there?s an excellent chance that your camera will expose best at ISO 100 or above on a bright, sunny day. You can shoot videos in 720p resolution at 30 fps in QuickTime format. The details captured are vivid and colours are excellent.

A standard mini-USB port lets you upload photos and videos to your computer. The SX150 can use SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards. The camera is powered by AA batteries but after capturing about 80-90 pictures and reviewing them on the LCD, the alkaline gets exhausted. You?ll get better battery life if you opt for rechargeable batteries. Moreover, the camera captures sharp images with its 12x zoom range, but is hindered by high noise levels at almost every ISO setting.

In summary, advanced technologies, such as Intelligent IS and Smart Auto, make it easy to capture gorgeous still images and high definition video. It all makes the SX150 IS the perfect camera to capture the good times, wherever you might be.
