It seems that the box office is all set to celebrate with the Hindi films this festive season. What?s Your Rashee ?, which released on September 25 has already showed its fireworks at the box office garnering around Rs 9 crore over the festive weekend. Released in 450 cinemas across India, UTVs What?s Your Rashee? saw an booking of 25%-30% in the morning show on the first day. However, as the day went along the occupancy rates increased to 60%-70%. The film has done a good business at multiplexes in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore. At Inox, What?s Your Rashee? had an average of five shows per property for with an average occupancy of 45%. This week the multiplex operator has reduced the number of shows to two per property.
Prakhar Joshi, head of programming, PVR Cinemas said, ?So far the film across PVR has done well in Punjab, Delhi and Mumbai recording 80%, 72% and 62% occupancies respectively. It has garnered around Rs 1 crore on the first four days with occupancy of around 65%. However, the film saw a drop of around 25% on Tuesday.? According to trade analysts, in the first week the film is estimated to make a business of Rs 16-17 crore. Meanwhile, last weeks release Salman Khan Starrer Wanted and Yash Raj?s Dil Bole Hadippa continue to attract audiences in huge number. Wanted grossed around Rs 11.50 crore over its second weekend.
According to analysts, Wanted has done well in single screens as compared to the multiplexes. ?Wanted is a movie for the masses and is doing well in cities like Baroda, Aurangabad and Bihar. The film is doing well at single screens in, whereas multiplexes in the big cities are giving average performance of around 50%. As per the box office India report, the approximate breakdowns of Wanted in its second weekend stood at Rs 2.25 crore on Friday, Rs 2.50 crore on Saturday, Rs 3.75 crore on Sunday and Rs 3 crore on Dusshera. Analysts, say that the film has done extremely well in the Hindi belt areas like Bihar and is expected to cross Rs 50 crore in the coming weeks. Dil Bole Hadippa has so far grossed around Rs18 crore in week one with highest collections in Delhi and Punjab. Coming Friday will see the release of UTV and Dharma Productions much awaited Wake Up Sid that is budgeted around Rs 60 crore.
