BMW launched its X6 series cars, both petrol and diesel variants, in the city on Thursday, and said the eastern region was one of its fastest growing markets.
With an average growth rate of 40% per annum, the target is to sell 100 cars this year in the east. In 2008, a total number of 70 cars were sold in the region.
?Last year in the eastern region our target was to sell 50 cars but we over-achieved our target and sold 70 cars. This year we are targeting 100, the eastern region is growing fast,? said Peter Kronschnabl, president, BMW India.
Kronschnabl launched the BMW X6 at the new OSL Prestige workshop in Kolkata spread over 13,000 sq ft.
BMW India also plans to add 10 more dealerships across India in cities like Jaipur, Ludhiana, Bhubaneswar this year. Currently, it has 13 dealers across the country. ?The Bhubaneshwar one would be a workshop for engine repairing, body and paint set to come up by next year,? said Charchit Mishra, managing director, OSL Prestige, BMW dealer.
Speaking about national sales, Kronschnabl said, ?Last year we sold 2,908 cars and this year our target is to sell more than 3,000 cars. Till June this year, we have done 1,747 cars which is a 12% growth over previous year for the same period. Most of the cars are sold in the western region.”
