Amrutanjan Health Care (Amrutanjan) has entered into a pact with the US-based Austin Chemical Company to form a joint venture called Amrutanjan Pharmaessence. As part of this agreement, Pharmaessence Amrutanjan?s fine chemicals division, through its facility at Alathur near Chennai will focus on supplying non-GMP and cGMP intermediates and APIs from gram scale to commercial quantities. ?The move will enable us to grab sizeable chunk of the fine chemicals market in the US and also enable us to spread our wings beyond our traditional business,? said company’s spokesperson here.
Speaking to the FE, the official said: ?We have set up a new facility at Alathur near Chennai with an investment of Rs 70 crore to make fine chemicals which are used in number of drugs. The facility also has major R&D labs to test the produce and molecules which are primarily used in making cough syrup, asthma drugs among other drugs the tieup with Austin will enable to generate more revenues going forward.?
