The apex court on Monday sought reply from Indian Met-als and Ferro Alloys (IMFA) and others on Orissa government’s plea seeking to restrain the company from carrying on mining in its Dhanurjayapur mines, which fall within 10 km of the Hadagarh Sanctuary and 1 km of the safety zone.
A special green bench asked the integrated producer to respond to the plea alleging that mining activities were continuing even in the absence of approval by the National Board of Wild Life. Challenging the Orissa High Court’s order that allowed the firm to continue mining within the ?buffer zone,? the state government said such impugned order was contrary to SC’s August 4, 2006, order that barred mining within the sanctuary?s safety zone.
