The Haryana Power Generation Corporation (HPGCL) achieved a record generation of 622.71 lakh units of electricity in single day on February 11 and surpassed its own record.
While stating this Sanjeev Kaushal, MD of HPGCL said that this was a land mark achievement as the state power utility had first time crossed the 600-unit milestone. He congratulated the employees for this achievement and said that every achievement should spur them to keep on improving their performance. The previous highest generation of 582.60 lakh units in a single day was achieved by HPGCL on February 8.
Commenting on the performance of HPGCL, he added that the prestigious 1,200 mw RGTPP Khedar is well on its way towards stabilisation and has generated 225.30 lakh units on this day, at Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 78.23% which is also the highest since commissioning of plant. He added that the plant employees are working round-the-clock to get maximum generation on a sustained basis, in-spite of the fact that it is getting very poor quality of coal from Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd, (MCL),Orissa. He said initiatives had been taken to get the indigenous coal washed and to procure imported coal so that the coal which was fed into the boilers has low ash content and high overall calorific value. The performance will improve further with improved coal quality.
Regarding performance of other power stations, he informed that Panipat power station generated 277.46 lakh units at a PLF of 84.52%, in spite of 110 mw Unit-2 be under shut down due to its overhauling. The 210/250 mw Units of PTPS-2 achieved an excellent PLF of 96.77% on this day. The DCRTPP Yamunanagar also performed well by generating 114.42 Lakh Units at a PLF of 80%.
