Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) has decided to install solar photovoltaic (SPV) street lighting system in 56 villages in three more districts namely?Rewari, Mahendergarh and Faridabad?under phase-V of its special project of installing such systems in the villages having 50% or more Scheduled Castes population.
While stating this, the power and renewable energy minister Mahender Pratap Singh said under phase-I to IV of this project 313 villages of the districts of Ambala, Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Sonipat, Jind, Bhiwani, Faridabad and Gurgaon has been covered.
Under phase-IV, 56 villages would be illuminated by installing 1,616 SPV street lighting systems at a cost of Rs 307.04 lakh during 2010-11. Out of this amount, Rs 92.11 lakh would be provided by the Union ministry of new and renewable energy and the balance amount of Rs 216.83 lakh by the welfare of SCs and backward classes department, Haryana.
