‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’ box office collections opened on a good note with approximately 45% occupancy rate during morning shows on day 1 and thereafter went on to register some good numbers. While ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’ day 1 box office collections stood at a whopping Rs 6.8 crore in domestic market, it showed further escalation on Saturday at Rs 7.60 crore.
On Sunday, things improved even more for the movie with its take measured at a handsome Rs 8.35 crore. On day 4, with the weekend over, the collections almost halved at Rs 4.35 crore for a domestic total of Rs 27.10 crore. When the foreign collections are added, the total rises to Rs 28.42 crore.
‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’ cast consisting of Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha, Sonalli Sehgall, Ishita Sharma, Omkar Kapoor, and Sunny Singh have been able to snatch a success out of thin air. Many films released in 2015 before it with big stars in the lead have not been able to make as telling a contribution at box office as PKP 2.
The film itself focuses on the ‘battle of sexes’ and is expected to do well even though a number of other small films have released alongside like Wedding Pullav and Dimagh Ka Dahi. However, from the lot that hit the screens on Friday, PKP2, which is a sequel to the 2011 hit Pyaar Ka Punchnama, was expected to fare the best – Wedding Pullav recorded a mere 15% occupancy rate office.
On the whole, with reviews not really going against it, ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’ is expected to dominate this weekend and Wedding Pullav coming in behind. In terms of business, while ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’ is expected to grow, the other releases will have to rely heavily on good word of mouth to make sure they are not left awash in red.
While Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 is shallow, the presentation is tight and youngsters, who are the target audience of the film, seem to be taking very well to it. The film will put up an extraordinary lifetime collections number for sure.
