An Indian man said to be in his 40s was viciously attacked in an apparent racist attack in Dublin, Ireland. The Irish Times was one of the first outlets to report the heart-rending incident and its shocking details. In addition to being brutally assaulted, the individual was reportedly partially stripped and left bleeding over the weekend. The blood-curdling incident took place at about 6 pm in Tallaght.

The assault on the Indian man is being investigated as a hate crime, as per sources quoted by the Irish news outlet. The suspected racist attack left the victim with multiple wounds. Moreover, the group of attackers even stripped his trousers.

“Gardaí in Tallaght were alerted to an incident at Parkhill Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24, on the evening of Saturday 19th, July, 2025, at approximately 6pm,” a spokesperson for the national police service said. “Gardaí attended the scene and a male, aged in his 40s was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with injuries.”

The man in his 40s is possibly a Amazon employee, according to Ambassador Akhilesh Mishra. He was ultimately taken for treatment to Tallaght University Hospital, and discharged early Sunday morning.

Why was the Indian man attacked in Ireland?

The purported Amazon techie’s attackers are said to have falsely accused the victim of exhibiting inappropriate actions around children. However, The Irish Times further added context saying, that these uncorroborated accusations were pushed online by far-right and anti-immigrant accounts.

Sources further spilled to The Hindu that the victim had come to Ireland merely a week before he was attacked.

Indian Embassy in Ireland in touch with Irish authorities

Ambassador of India Akhilesh Mishra has since also told the Indian outlet that the Embassy of India in Ireland has contacted the Irish authorities. He condemned the “horrible attack” that had sparked “widespread concern and fear in the local Indian community.” The Embassy is also believed to be in touch with the Indian man who was assaulted in Dublin.

Additionally, Mishra took to his X to share the heart-rending account with the world and spread awareness about mounting cases of hate crimes. “How can an “ALLEGED” assault cause such horrible injury & bleeding? Aghast at the insensitivity & obfuscation of @rte @rtenews!” he fumed online. “Thank Hon @paulmurphy_TD @gardainfo & Irish people for their sympathy, support to the #innocent#victim. Hope the perpetrators are brought to #justice!”

Although he did not attach a trigger warning with the post, the diplomat went on to share a bloody image of the victim, striking fear in the hearts of all those viewing the post.

A diplomatic source even noted that while Ireland wasn’t deemed unsafe earlier, the last three years have devolved into a nightmare with escalating “violent racist gangs” targeting foreigners.

Meanwhile, Baby Pereppadan, who was Ireland’s first Indian-origin mayor, called to attention that the majority of Indians moving to Ireland “are here on work permits, to study and work in the healthcare sector or in IT and so on, providing critical skills.” He met the victim on Monday.

Eyewitness details gory attack on Indian man in Dublin

Local resident Jennifer Murray came to the rescue of the man in his 40s on Saturday. Although the individual has yet to be publicly identified, she called him a “gentle man,” who was “stripped… attacked.”

Detailing his injuries in the aftermath of what she called an instance of “pure racism,” Murray shared that the attackers it the man in the head first. “He had about an inch and a half gash above his eyebrow, and then about an inch above his other eyebrow,” she added. Thereafter, the group of young assaulters reportedly forcefully held his head and rammed into a lampost thrice. After that, they all punched and kicked him, which was followed by his shoes, trousers and underwear being stripped.

The woman told The Journal that the attackers basically “left him for dead” after stealing his phone and money.

No known arrests were reported at the time of writing.

This particular attack on an Indian man comes a week after the Financial Express covered a then-viral post, capturing visuals of a Ratha Yatra Festival, pushed by a self-proclaimed nationalist in Ireland. Sparking a debate on X, the post in question highlighted how hundreds of thousands of Indians had relocated to the country since 2020, labelling it a “not sustainable” development that had left Ireland “unrecognisable.”
