During a meeting regarding the federal and provincial governments, the leadership of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in Punjab voiced serious concerns to President Asif Ali Zardari, reported ARY News citing sources on Thursday.

According to the sources familiar with the development, at the meeting, the PPP Punjab leadership insisted that the party is being “denied” of its rights and that the federal and provincial governments are not working with it.

The Punjabi PPP leaders highlighted that the problems in their individual seats were not being addressed. The leaders complained to the President of Pakistan that their voices should be heard.

The problems of the PPP Punjab leadership would be fixed, the president promised.

“The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is unable to run the government,” said President Zardari.

“Now, I have returned to the ground myself and uplift works will be carried out from Islamabad to Lahore. No political party can compete with the Pakistan Peoples Party(PPP),” President Zardari added, as per ARY News.

It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif is a member of PML-N.

At both, installing and toppling governments, the PPP is skilled, Zardari asserted.

However, the president urged members of his party to cooperate and have conversations to settle disputes.

Meanwhile, the PPP leader Ali Haider Gilani stated that the residents of South Punjab should not be viewed as subjects.

Gilani took up the issue of the Punjab government’s demolition of the South Punjab Secretariat. The previous government had constructed it. He said that in the South Punjab Secretariat, the present administration has fired every secretary, reported ARY News.

The PPP leader attacked the leadership in Lahore, blaming them for being reluctant to acknowledge the people of South Punjab.
