A massive fire broke out on the fourth floor of the Pakistan Stock Exchange building located in Karachi on Monday. According to multiple reports, trading was suspended briefly as rescuers brought out everyone from the building. As many as six fire tenders were rushed to the spot. A report by Dawn.com says that firefighters have managed to douse the blaze.
According to the Dawn report, Sindh Rescue 1122 spokesperson Hassaan Khan confirmed that there were no casualties in the blaze and the cooling process was underway. The blaze, which was initially reported on the fourth floor of Pakistan Stock Exchange building, spread to other parts of the building. However, timely action by the firefighters at the building situated on II Chundrigar Road building averted a big disaster.
The report further added that earlier in February, a survey conducted by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation had revealed that as many as 265 commercial establishments had no fire safety measures in place and none had got the NOC by the municipal body. The findings were submitted in the Sindh High Court.
