The Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday (October 2) issued an advisory for Indian nationals in Israel in view of Iran’s missile strikes. The advisory urges Indian citizens to remain alert and stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran. The advisory comes amid escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, with Hezbollah carrying out missile strikes on northern Israel.
“We are closely monitoring the recent escalation in security situation in the region. Indian nationals are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran. Those currently residing in Iran are requested to remain vigilant and stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran,” the Ministry of External Affairs.
Iran launched a barrage of missiles at Israel late Tuesday evening, claiming it was in retaliation for recent assassinations carried out by Israeli forces.
Earlier, on Tuesday, the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv issued an advisory for Indian nationals in Israel following Iran’s missile strikes. The advisory urges Indian citizens to remain vigilant and follow the protocols set by local authorities.
“Please exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel within the country and stay close to the safety shelters. The Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and remains in regular touch with the Israeli authorities to ensure the safety of all our nationals,” the advisory read.
The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv has shared emergency contact details, including 24×7 helpline numbers, following recent missile strikes. Indian nationals can reach the Embassy at +972-547520711 and +972-543278392 in case of emergencies. The Embassy assured that it is closely monitoring the situation and staying in touch with Israeli authorities to ensure the safety of Indian citizens. Additionally, an email ID—cons1.telaviv@mea.gov.in—has been provided for assistance, and the Embassy urged all unregistered nationals to complete the registration process promptly.
Middle East Tensions Escalate
Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have escalated dramatically, with Hezbollah launching missile strikes on northern Israel, driving over a million Israelis into shelters. In retaliation, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) hit 120 Hezbollah positions and destroyed a Hamas tunnel network in Gaza.
On Tuesday, Israel closed its airspace and redirected flights to other countries after Iran fired hundreds of missiles at Israeli targets. Millions of Israelis took cover as air raid sirens blared, and explosions were reported in Tel Aviv and near Jerusalem.
Hezbollah’s deputy leader, Naim Kassem, vowed to continue the fight against Israel, asserting the group’s readiness for a prolonged conflict, even after the loss of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah. In his first public statement since Nasrallah’s death, Kassem declared that Hezbollah’s fighters are fully prepared to defend Lebanon if Israel launches a ground offensive.
