RCB wins IPL 2025: ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde’ is no longer just a chant by RCB fans; it’s a reality now after the IPL franchise defeated PBKS by six runs. They’ve lifted the IPL trophy after 18 long, heart-wrenching years – all thanks to captain Rajat Patidar. From the heartbreak of 2009, when they fell short by just six runs, to being outplayed in 2011, to the eight-run defeat in 2016, RCB fans have carried the weight of “almost” for far too long. But in 2025, the cup was really theirs. As RCB lifted the trophy last night, people in Bengaluru turned the streets into one big party space. This party wasn’t just offline. For the first time, there has been a pause on memes and jokes, and social media has been “bleeding red”.
Vijay Mallya’s unmissable posts
Vijay Mallya, who founded RCB, said it was a dream come true for him after RCB lifted the IPL trophy last night. “RCB are IPL Champions finally after 18 years. Superb campaign right through the 2025 tournament. A well-balanced team Playing Bold with outstanding coaching and support staff. Many congratulations!” He completed his social media post with a popular Kannada slogan, “Ee sala cup namde!” which translates to “This time, the cup is ours.”
In another post, he recalled founding the IPL franchise and picking Virat Kohli for it. “When I founded RCB, it was my dream that the IPL trophy should come to Bengaluru. I had the privilege of picking the legendary King Kohli as a youngster, and it is remarkable that he has stayed with RCB for 18 years.”
“I also had the honour of picking Chris Gayle, the Universe Boss and Mr 360 AB DeVillers, who remain an indelible part of RCB history,” he added, before expressing, “Finally, the IPL trophy arrives in Bengaluru. Congratulations and thanks again to all who made my dream come true.”
He ended this post with another Kannada phrase: “Ee Sala Cup Bengaluru baruthe!” which roughly translates to “This time, the cup will come to Bengaluru!”
‘Loyalty like Virat Kohli…’ Anand Mahindra’s post after RCB’s win
Anand Mahindra shared a quote by Rabindranath Tagore to congratulate RCB on their maiden IPL win: “Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark.”
“For 18 years, Virat Kohli gave his heart to a team that had never touched the trophy. Waiting for the light of that dawn. And now, at last, the stars have answered his faith,” wrote Mahindra on X (formerly Twitter). He added, “Loyalty like this doesn’t just win titles; it carves legacies.”
‘Virat Kohli is Bangalore boy today’: Nikhil Kamath
Zerodha’s Nikhil Kamath took to his Instagram Story to congratulate RCB on their win after 18 long years and tagged Virat Kohli as “Bangalore boy” in his “bleed red” post. “Virat Kohli you are the Bangalore boy today… Congrats RCB,” read his red and white Instagram post complete with a heart.
Billionaire Harsh Goenka’s post for RCB, Kohli
Harsh Goenka also congratulated RCB for their maiden win after years of wait. But before that, let us share his previous post.
“The biggest whisky maker (RCB) vs the biggest whisky consumer (Punjab Kings) and it’s all happening in… the dry state of Gujarat. Cheers to irony!” Goenka had written on X.
After the Rajat Patidar-led RCB lifted the trophy, he wrote, “After 18 seasons of waiting, RCB finally wins the IPL! Virat is all smiles. And Bangalore is partying like never before. Well played, RCB- you truly deserved this!”
‘Virat jeet ke lie…’: Delhi Police’s viral post for RCB
Delhi Police too jumped on the bandwagon and expressed, “Virat jeet ke lie patience zaroori hai [For a massive victory like this, patience is important].”
The police department then shared a quirky post highlighting the traffic rules: “Dekhlo! 18 saal wait kiya.. Aur tum abhi se cark, bike chalane ke liye zidd karte rehte ho mummy papa se!” This roughly translates to: “See, they waited for 18 years… and you guys keep insisting on driving a car or bike already with Mom and Dad!”
‘If you’ve turned 18…’: ECI’s post on RCB’s victory
The Election Commission of India too celebrated the win but in their own style. “18 Years… Be a voter and be a champion,” it said as it posted the photo of RCB captain Rajat Patidar with the trophy. The commission added, “18 years for this moment. Iykyk. If you turned 18, don’t wait – register to vote today.”
‘Given RCB my youth, my prime…’: Virat Kohli
“I have given this team my youth, my prime and my experience. And I try to win this every season that I come, and I gave it everything that I have… I always have dreamt of winning it with them (RCB) and this is far more special than winning it with anyone else because my heart is with Bangalore, my soul is with Bangalore, and as I said, this is the team I am gonna play for till the last day that I play the IPL,” said an emotional Virat Kohli after winning the match.
He also mentioned his wife and actor Anushka Sharma: “She has stood by me through thick and thin – 100 per cent. She’s been coming here, supporting RCB since 2014. So it’s been 11 years for her as well – relentlessly turning up for games, watching the tough ones, watching us just miss out.”
“Anushka has seen me at my lowest, been through all the ups and downs with me. She’s felt it all: the pain, the near misses. She’s deeply connected to Bengaluru. She’s a Bangalore girl too, and her bond with RCB is strong. So this is incredibly special for her as well. She’s going to be so, so proud,” he added.
