A tale of perseverance and financial discipline is touching thousands online after a man from a modest background shared his remarkable savings journey on Reddit. Now 34, the tech professional revealed that he has saved Rs 4 crore over the past decade — without inheritance, windfalls, or privilege — only through consistent effort and a frugal lifestyle.

Posting on the r/noida subreddit on his birthday, the man opened with a simple yet striking statement: “Today I turn 34. And I have just crossed Rs 4 crore in personal savings. No inheritance. No lottery. Just ten years of consistent effort, patience, and disciplined living.”

Born to a daily-wage labourer in a small Indian village, he studied at a Hindi-medium government school and grew up battling both hunger and financial insecurity. But amid the struggle, he found motivation in a sentence his father once told him: “The day people know me because of you, I will feel proud.”

He recalled moments of deep longing—not just for food, but for dignity. In one poignant line, he wrote, “I still remember what hunger feels like… the kind where you quietly wish to wear a branded Levi’s T-shirt… just to feel normal among the city crowd.”

His life began to change when he discovered computers. This interest led to a stable job in the tech sector, and though it wasn’t glamorous, it was enough to begin saving. He lived simply, learned personal finance through online forums and books, and began trading to grow his wealth. With no mentor, he credits his progress to persistence and learning from his mistakes.

Today, he owns a car and a bike, but notably not a house—by choice. “I do not own a house yet, and I am not in a hurry either,” he wrote. “More than the material things, I am proud that I have created a life my father would be happy to see.”

He ended his post by encouraging others who feel stuck or behind in life: “You do not need to speak fluent English. You do not need an elite degree. You just need hunger, consistency, and belief in yourself.”

The post has since gone viral, inspiring hundreds. From young readers seeking motivation to older individuals battling debt, many shared their own dreams and struggles in the comments.

One user wrote, “God bless you with more success, peace and health… proud of your achievement. Keep teaching and pass on hard work to me.” Another, a 20-year-old from a middle-class family, said, “You surely did some great work.”

But perhaps most moving was a comment from someone currently in Rs 1 crore debt: “I promise myself that I should not only be debt free by 45, but should be in a position to retire happily… Wish me luck!”
