Revant Himatsingka, popularly known as Food Pharmer, has reflected on a difficult period when he was “nearly broke” and how Zerodha co-founder and CEO Nithin Kamath stepped in to offer him financial support. He shared that he will always be grateful to Kamath, not only for the help he extended but also for the inspiration he provided during that time.
“I had quit my job in the US, wasn’t doing food brands deals, and I had 8 legal notices. That’s when I met Nithin Kamath at an event in December 2023,” recalled Food Pharmer. “I was nearly broke, battling lawsuits and questioning everything.”
In the next few lines, he shared a conversation with Nithin Kamath that “inspired” him during his difficult phase.
‘It wasn’t charity. It was belief’
Food Pharmer added, “He told me: ‘Don’t worry, if you need any financial help, let me know, I’ll help out.’ I asked him: ‘How much equity would you want if you help me?’ He smiled and said: ‘None. I don’t want anything. I just want to support you.’”
What stunned Himatsingka the most was Kamath’s generosity despite them being strangers. “I wasn’t a close friend. In fact, I had never met him before. It wasn’t charity. It was a belief.”
“Belief that doing the right thing is worth backing,” he expressed.
The post, which he signed off with a heartfelt “Forever grateful, Nithin” note, added, “In a world obsessed with ROI, here was someone who reminded me that true wealth is in character.”
Although he ultimately didn’t accept the financial help as he was working towards building a “sustainable source of income”, Kamath’s gesture and belief in him became a powerful source of inspiration during one of the most challenging phases of his life.
‘Says a lot about Nithin Kamath’: Internet hails him as a hero
“That says a lot about him… True legend in representing ethics,” said one social media user.
Another added, “This is what we want billionaires to do, support those who bring change.” According to Forbes, Nithin Kamath’s net worth is $4 billion.
“True wealth lies in character, not conditions,” commented a third.
A fourth shared, “May your tribe grow,” and a fifth agreed with him, “Kamath brothers will actually make the best leaders in India to take it to the next level.”
