Gurugram news: “Gurgaon is a failed city,” is what many people are saying on social media in unison after yesterday’s hours-long rainfall triggered flooding, causing vehicles to break down and a kilometre-long traffic jam. There was a four-kilometre-long traffic jam on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. Since the city was brought to a standstill, many were not even able to book cabs and had to take hours to reach their destination.
The situation in the city is so bad that the authorities have issued a WFH advisory for offices, both government and private. Schools and colleges are also shut and have been ordered to move to online mode.
‘Gurgaon is a failed city’
While responding to a video that shows flooded roads in Gurgaon, Rahul Pandita wrote, “Gurugram is a failed city. In fact, it is not a city, but a big slum. But so are all Indian cities now. Gurugram is at the top of that list.”

Suhel Seth, too, commented on the city’s condition, saying that it is “done”. “Gurugram is done. Like you can’t imagine,” he said.
Seth added, “The first bloke to ruin this was Manohar Lal Khattar and NayabSaini just can’t manage this situation,” before lashing out at the BJP government that they “need some serious introspection”.
“They’ve been running this state for 11 years now. You can’t blame Nehru,” he went on to say.
On a serious note: Gurugram is done. Like you can’t imagine. The first bloke to ruin this was @mlkhattar and @NayabSainiBJP just can’t manage this situation. The @BJP4India needs some serious introspection. They’ve been running this state for 11 years now. You can’t blame Nehru.

“All Indian cities have completely collapsed, but Gurgaon has a higher utility. It exists to reassure you that perhaps your own city is at least not that bad,” Anurag Minus Verma’s sarcasm-dipped comment read.

Many even shared videos of “knee-deep” water in Gurugram, with vehicles stuck in between of the roads. The engines have given up because of the waterlogging.
One X user even pointed out that from the Centre to the state to even the mayor, everyone is affiliated to the BJP, still the “five-engine government” – a jibe at “double-engine government” – failed.
“PM: BJP; CM: BJP; MP: BJP; MLA: BJP; Mayor: BJP. Still 20 km long traffic in Gurugram after only 2 hours of rain. Beauty of five-engine BJP government,” one social media user said.
Yet another asked, “Where is all the tax money going in India?” The X user added, “Salary tax is 30%, Fuel tax is 50%, GST tax is 28%, vehicle tax is 30%, and health tax is 18%.”
