A speeding delivery agent reportedly crashed into an elderly couple in a Bengaluru neighborhood on Monday afternoon, leaving the woman, in her 60s, in severe pain. The incident has reignited concerns over reckless driving by delivery riders in the city.
According to eyewitnesses, the delivery rider was moving at high speed when he lost control and hit the couple. A resident who saw the accident immediately rushed the injured woman to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed that, despite the impact, she had not suffered any fractures.
With the growing number of food and parcel deliveries, residents have expressed concerns over the increasing safety risks posed by delivery bikes zipping through the streets. Many have called for stricter regulations to curb speeding and ensure pedestrian safety.

The incident gained traction on social media after user Sivasubramaniam Jayaraman shared details on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Delivery bikes are constantly zipping through our roads, often in a rush. This is becoming a serious safety issue.”
Several users criticized delivery companies for prioritizing speed over safety, with some urging the government to impose a 50 kmph speed cap for delivery riders, similar to taxi regulations.
One user remarked, “The government can easily ban this nonsensical 10-minute rush delivery, but they won’t,” highlighting concerns about business models that encourage haste.
Others pointed out that the issue goes beyond speed, blaming reckless riding behavior. “It’s not just about speed; it’s the reckless attitude. They cut corners while turning, and most don’t have rearview mirrors. Even if they do, it’s just an accessory for them,” another user commented.
