As soon as Singh went down, other players on the field rushed to his aid. They attempted to revive him using CPR, but their efforts were in vain. Singh had suffered a cardiac arrest and died on the spot.
Similar cases reported in 2024
This is not the first such incident reported this year. In June 2024, 42-year-old cricketer Ram Ganesh Tewar suffered a fatal heart attack during a corporate cricket match in Kashmir, organised by a Mumbai-based company. The video of that moment also went viral online.
In another case from November 2024, a young cricketer named Imran Patel collapsed while batting in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. During a match at the Garware Cricket Stadium, Imran struck a boundary but complained of discomfort immediately after. He informed the umpire he needed to take his medicines and began walking off the field. Before he could reach the pavilion, he collapsed and was later rushed to a hospital.
These repeated incidents have sparked concern about the growing number of cardiac-related deaths among young and seemingly healthy individuals, especially during physical activity.
Actress Shefali Jariwala among celebrities lost to heart attack
The entertainment industry too has witnessed similar tragedies. Actress Shefali Jariwala, known for her iconic appearance in the 2002 music video Kaanta Laga and her role in Bigg Boss 13, passed away in Mumbai at the age of 42. Her sudden death due to cardiac arrest adds to the list of rising premature deaths from heart-related complications.
