Pakistan will host Bangladesh for a two-match Test series from Wednesday (August 21) in Rawalpindi. This series is vital for both teams as they aim to improve their standings in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. Pakistan is currently sixth, having played five Tests with two wins and three losses, resulting in a points percentage (PCT) of 36.7. Bangladesh, ranked eighth, has one win from four matches.

Shan Masood’s team last played a Test series in Australia last year, where they were defeated 0-3. Bangladesh’s most recent Test series loss came at home against Sri Lanka in March 2024.

Initially, the series was scheduled to be played in Rawalpindi and Karachi, but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has relocated the second Test from Karachi to Rawalpindi. This change is due to ongoing renovations at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, which will also host matches during the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. The PCB cited concerns over noise and dust from the construction affecting players, officials, and media.
