This edition of the Indian Premier League is all about power-hitting. The smashing shots by batters across teams have scripted a new chapter in the history of the T20 tournament. On Wednesday, IPL 2024 set a new record as it saw 1,000 sixes in the quickest time ever. This is the third time in the history of tournament that this milestone of 1,000 sixes has been reached. The maximum milestone was achieved in the 57th match of the tournament. The Wednesday match is being played between SunRisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal. In this edition of IPL, the 1,000 sixes were scored in just 13,079 deliveries.

The earlier records were made last year as well as in the 2022 season of the tournament. While the 2023 edition saw 1000 sixes in 15390 balls, the 2022 edition saw this milestone being achieved in 16,269 deliveries. In 2023, total 1124 maximums were scored, the 2022 edition saw 1062 sixes.

The fewer deliveries used to reach the milestone showcases a very aggressive style of batting by the players in the edition. With the likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Phil Salt, Sunil Narine, the tournament is seeing more runs in fewer deliveries.
