The Indian Premier League has been a platform for some of the most prolific run-getters in T20 cricket, and international stars have left their imprint through steady performances. Virat Kohli and David Warner have been the standout names among them.

Both Kohli and Warner have won the coveted Orange Cap on 2 different occasions —Warner first in 2015 and Kohli during his record-breaking 2016 season, where he smashed 973 runs, the most ever scored in a single IPL edition. Kohli has also made history with eight IPL centuries, the highest by any player in the tournament’s history.

With the 2025 season of IPL, Kohli is now eyeing another huge milestone—going past Warner’s highest number of fifty-plus scores in IPL history. Warner sits at the top of the charts at the moment with 66 fifty-plus scores comprising 62 half-centuries and four centuries. Kohli follows just behind with his count rising all the while as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) sensation reveals his signature level headedness.

Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma also feature on the list of fifty-plus scores. Dhawan has 53 such innings, while Rohit, the veteran Mumbai Indians captain, has 45 to his name.

Earlier in IPL 2025, Kohli reached another historic landmark by completing 13,000 T20 runs in his 386th innings, making him the second-fastest player to do so. Only West Indian great Chris Gayle got there quicker, in just 381 innings. Kohli surpassed England’s Alex Hales by nearly 90 innings to claim the second spot.

Kohli had earlier crossed the 10,000 T20 run mark during the 2021 IPL season in just 299 innings, making him the third-fastest after Babar Azam and Gayle. Out of his total T20 runs, over 8,000 have come in the IPL, underlining his incredible influence on the tournament.

As IPL 2025 progresses, all eyes will be on Kohli as he aims to break yet another record and cement his status as one of the greatest T20 batters of all time.
