India’s wholesale price inflation in September eased to 0.13% year-on-year, from a 0.52% rise in the previous month, government data showed on Tuesday.
The month-on-month (M-o-M) change in WPI from August 2025 to September 2025 has seen a declined by 0.19 %.
“Positive rate of inflation in September, 2025 is primarily due to increase in prices of manufacture of food products, other manufacturing, non-food articles, other transport equipment and textiles etc.” noted the data released by Indian government.
Food deflation deepens on sharp fall in vegetable prices
Deflation in food articles stood at 5.22% in September, compared to 3.06% in August, with vegetable prices declining by 24.41% in September as against 14.18% in August. In the case of manufactured products, inflation eased to 2.33%, from 2.55% in August. The fuel and power category continued to record deflation at 2.58% in September, compared to 3.17% in the previous month.
Electricity prices rise 1.2% in September
The price of electricity (1.20%) increased in September, 2025 as compared to August, 2025.
WPI data for September was based on a weighted response rate of 80.2%.The next release of the WPI data for October 2025 will be on November 14, 2025.
