HTC began rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for HTC 10 last week to deliver its promise that it made last year. HTC in August last year confirmed that the HTC U11, HTC U Ultra, and HTC 10 will get the Android 8.0 Oreo update, the last one being the latest recipient. It now seems that the Taiwanese company has now pulled the plug on the Android 8.0 Oreo rollout for HTC 10 without stating any reason behind this move. According to some reports, many HTC 10 users did not receive any Android 8.0 Oreo update notification on their devices, in addition to the removal of the official RUU package from the HTC website.

According to the reports on XDA Developers Forum, HTC 10 users have not been getting any notification to update their devices to Android 8.0 Oreo. Moreover, the RUU package that is employed to update the smartphones manually has also been removed from the website. Some users who were able to update their devices early, using the RUU flashing method, have reported some issues including battery bugs. HTC hasn’t provided an official word over this action. Meanwhile, the HTC US support page only lists the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the HTC 10, which was rolled out in February last year.

The HTC 10 was launched in 2016 with specifications that include a 5.2-inch quad-HD (1440×2560) Super LCD 5 display. The smartphone is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. It was launched with two RAM and storage variants – one with 4GB/ 32GB and 4GB/ 64GB – which can be further expanded via microSD card (up to 2TB). The HTC 10 packs a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage in the Indian market. The HTC 10 sports a 12-UltraPixel laser autofocus camera with dual tone LED flash support, BSI sensor, and optical image stabilisation (OIS). The camera lens also has a f/1.8 aperture and Sapphire Lens. On the front, the smartphone has a 5-megapixel camera with auto selfie feature and OIS support.
