Massive protests against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati continues. Fringe groups and many from the Rajput community are opposing the movie claiming that it is distorting historical facts. Not just that, Rs 5 cr bounty has been put on the heads of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actress Deepika Padukone by protesting groups. Rajasthan has been hit by a number of fresh protests, aside from effigies of Bhansali being burnt. Despite all the furore, the actress who gracefully portrays the character of "Rani Padmini", Deepika Padukone is all upbeat and extremely proud of Padmavati movie. In an interview with IE, Deepika has shared some secrets about the making of Padmavati and her experience.

Deepika said Padmavati is wonderful not just for her but for women in cinema in general, considering the kind of budget woman-centric films have had in India.

On Padmavati row: Deepika said, "I wondered for how long are we going to remain silent? For how long would the entertainment industry be made a scapegoat for everything that happens in this country?"

Deepika said:" While we were shooting for Bajirao Mastani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali asked me ‘What are you doing next year? Keep your dates aside as I’m thinking of doing a movie on Padmavati.’

About her relationship with Ranveer Singh in the film, which is the main reason behind the controversy about the movie, Deepika said she doesn't share screen with the actor in the film. "Ranveer and I are almost like the beauty and the beast in Padmavati," she said.

Deepika was surprised when Bhansali put her with Ranveer in this film, which is not a love story. "Sanjay Leela Bhansali brought Ranveer and me together for two love stories and then he decided to put us in some kind of hate story," she said.
